our history

Discover the historical trajectory of JYMPA over time.

1971
Foundation of JYMPA

Josep Maria Pradas founded JYMPA 1971 S.L. from a small metal workshop in Castellserà (Lleida, Spain), together with his wife Maria Lluïsa Gené. At first it was dedicated to repairs and orders for metal carpentry, grilles, ... demanded by local customers, but it was very clear from the beginning that it had to specialise in the manufacture of agricultural machinery and go beyond the limits of the village.

1973
First patent for a forklift truck for small fruit chambers

The first forklift truck for fruit chambers is developed and patented, the result of observing the needs of the farmers with whom Josep Maria Pradas had direct contact. Almost all of these installations in Catalonia, Aragon and the north of the Valencian Community are equipped, and they are manufactured until the beginning of the 1980s, when forklift trucks for transporting goods (popularly known as "bulls") appear.

1974
JYMPA's first destoners

The first JYMPA stonecutters are developed and patented in response to the need to collect stones from the fields at a time of land consolidation. The first demonstrations are carried out in Sástago (Zaragoza, Spain). These stonecutters are still part of our product range in their latest versions.

New JYMPA subsoilers

Como complemento a las despedregadoras, se desarollan y fabrican los primeros subsoladores JYMPA. Más adelante, los subsoladores se han convertido en las principales máquinas para la preparación del suelo del catálogo de JYMPA.

1975
First participation in the FIMA trade fair
1976
First trips abroad

First trips abroad, to Poland and Romania.

Change of facilities

The growth of the company meant that the workshop located in the centre of the village of Castellserà became too small, and it was decided to move the offices and production machinery to new, spacious premises on the outskirts of the town.

1977
First exports to Mexico

Josep Maria Pradas travels to the Mexican state of Chiapas together with an operator to start up the first de-stoner units ordered by the Mexican government and carry out demonstrations in front of a large number of farmers and representatives of the government and banks.

Expansion in Latin America and Europe

For more than 3 decades JYMPA has maintained its commercial presence in Mexico and has expanded throughout the Latin American market: Honduras, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay... At the same time it also exports machinery to countries of the EEC / European Union and Eastern Europe. In 2011 it starts manufacturing directly in Mexico to consolidate its position in the American continent.
